The Selmer ‘MKVI’ (mark 6) remains for many the benchmark of classic saxophone design. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of arguably the best and certainly the most coveted saxophone in history we produced our tribute: the Hanson LX (60).
Where many have fallen short in their attempts (often producing a mere parody) we have striven to obtain the balance of a distinguished sound with a delicate feel. Placed side by side we can reveal no discernible difference in tone, production or playability.
The recipe for our outstanding LX professional alto saxophone:
- Take a 1954 Selmer MKVI alto.
- Strip it down to every single component part.
- Invest in world leading analytical and inspection technology to inspect and appreciate this old master.
- Make a new saxophone with the feel and tonality that made the original MKVI a legend and add into the equation 21s century engineering to enhance key action and feel.
Result is a legend reborn; all the sound and quality you could wish for with an original feel and performance that will make the Hanson LX a must have in your sax collection.
Play the Hanson LX and side by side to a Selmer MKVI (or anything else come to think of it!) – this is a masterpiece.
The LX is a great choice if you’re looking for the best ‘players’ sax. It’s going to cost approximately half the going price of a sixty year old Selmer yet will play and feel at least as good.
5 years warranty. 5 years free servicing including ‘wear and tear’ repairs.
Of course there are many excellent saxes out there to choose from. Below is a selection of our recommended favourite ‘stable mates’ which suggest you try before coming to see us for your LX – don’t be put off by our low prices – remember that we only sell direct to end users so you’re not paying a ‘middle man’ or ‘shop mark-up’ when you choose a Hanson sax.
