Description
Our instruments are quite simply better built and made to last – perfectly adjusted and ready to play from the moment you open the case….

… and on the subject of cases; even our case is better thought out, (phone and ask Alastair to bore you about how the mouthpiece and barrel layout helps beginners) and our easy-reed mouthpiece and reed system will make sure that the instrument blows easily without any expert knowledge of setting up a reed.
Looking past the first few lessons there are lots of benefits to owning a Hanson clarinet; expert advice is perhaps the most valuable – call us up and speak to Alastair Hanson personally for advice on instrument, embouchure (the players mouth!), reeds…. pretty much anything. You can phone us anytime and we will help you or your son/daughter with their instrument – if this sounds too good to be true just look through the forums and see what our customers have to say….
Hanson clarinets are made differently to the mass manufactured instruments: our clarinets are not injection moulded but ‘turned’ and ‘milled’ (that’s cut on a machine from a solid block of wood or ebonite) and it’s one of the reasons we believe that they play better. Don’t take our word for it though – please do your research and check us out… we make great instruments and look after our customers.
5 years warranty. 5 years free servicing. 5 years ‘wear and tear’ repairs.
100% part exchange when it’s time to upgrade.

What’s in the box? Here’s an explanation of the main parts.
• Your Hanson clarinet. Well made and ready to enjoy with a final inspection and play test right before packing
• A ‘Vandoren’ mouthpiece made in France or a ‘BARI’ mouthpiece made in America. The sound starts at the mouthpiece so it’s essential to have one that works well – it will help you in getting a note easily and a has a huge effect on the tone quality you will eventually achieve.
Most teachers will suggest that you buy a better mouthpiece at some point, with your Hanson clarinet it’s there right at the start when you need the most help. Unlike other makers we don’t skimp on quality when it comes to the mouthpiece – you get quality from the start. Our recommended mouthpiece is a ‘Vandoren’:a properly matched mouthpiece will be easy to play and will help you to produce a great sound. It’s like running the hundred metres dash with great sports shoes instead of wellies!
• Quality reeds. The reed vibrates against the mouthpiece and a note ensues. We supply all clarinets with a choice of ‘easy-reed’ (patented “easy-to-fit, easy-to-play” reeds as seen on BBC Dragons Den’) or standard Vandoren reeds.
• Ligature and cap. This is the part that holds the reed on to the mouthpiece and protects the reed from damage when not in use. The kind of ligature effects ease of fitting for the reed and also has an effect on tone quality.
• Cleaners. Instruments should be cleaned every time they are used. A well maintained clarinet will give you years of service and pleasure. A neglected instrument will look tired and eventually have problems that need a visit to the repair department.
• A stylish carry case. Our cases offer good protection for your instrument and have special design features which make assembly of the clarinet easier. They are compact and easy to carry with handles and straps just where you need them. The Hanson ‘Sportpack’ was introduced in 2001 and has been imitated by other makers ever since. It’s very flattering and a great testament to this super little case!
• Excellent after-service. Hanson after-service is unrivalled. We offer free repairs and servicing for all Hanson instruments over and above our comprehensive warranty.
• Peace of mind with zero depreciation. We offer a 100% part exchange on all upgrades, so when it’s time to change to a higher level instrument you will not lose a penny in depreciation.
